The boutique restaurant will cater for just 24 at a time.
Plans for a change of use have been submitted to Hammersmith and Fulham Council in anticipation of the Television Centre welcoming its latest new arrival: 'Endo at the Rotunda'.
Located at the highest point of the Television Centre within the Rotunda, the new restaurant will provide a high-end 'theatre chef experience' led by the highly acclaimed Endo Kazutoshi for the first five years "and thereafter by Endo Kazutoshi or such other chef of similar standing."
The restaurant is intended to be deliberately exclusive, providing just 24 covers. Additionally, due to the nature of the restaurant, there will be a maximum of 2 sittings at lunch time and 2 sittings in the evening per day.
In describing the design ethos, an excerpt from the Design and Access Statement, submitted in support of the application states:
"The main space of the restaurant is organised by a grand gesture: a long and zigzagging hinoki wood counter that guides the views of the customer with its changes of direction. All the seats at the counter face outwards so diners can enjoy the sushi experience in direct contact with the chef who is framed against the background of the city and the Helios Courtyard panorama"
Submitted documents reveal that two meetings were held with Planning Officers from Hammersmith and Fulham Council who confirmed that the proposed use of the space as a restaurant was acceptable.
The planning application was submitted to the Council in July and is due to be determined by the 4th September.
If approved, the restaurant will join the likes of Bluebird Café (the first ever spin-off of the popular Chelsea haunt), Homeslice, Kricket, and the Allis.
